Apprentice Resilience Program

Empowering sites with immediate support

MATES Apprentice Resilience Program is a comprehensive, evidence-based intervention that aims to promote resilience and self-care among construction industry apprentices.

The half-day training program is designed to be delivered to groups of 8 to 12 participants and can be held at your facilities or at our office in Spring Hill.

MATES will provide all necessary resources, and at the conclusion of the session, statements of attendance will be emailed to you for all participants.

The program is offered at no cost to all QLD construction industry apprentices and serves as an effective means of retaining and empowering young workers, while also promoting a healthier industry.

The Importance of the Apprentice Resilience Program

Despite having a positive attitude towards mental health and preventing suicide apprentices have low levels of literacy around mental health and suicide.
Book Training

Too many of our apprentices are doing it tough as demonstrated by the numbers.

Bullying Among Apprentices

27.3% of apprentices have experienced bullying, compared to 9.6% for the rest of the workforce, with 20% describing the bullying as severe.

Suicidal Thoughts

30% of apprentices reported thoughts of suicide in the last 12 months.

Mental Health Concerns

Nearly 30% of apprentices had a poor quality of life indicating depression, with 13% experiencing high levels of mental distress, 2.6x the national estimates.
